School closed except for children of key workers and our vulnerable pupils.

The school is closed to help control the spread of the coronavirus. Please do not bring your child to school and follow these key principles outlined by the government:

  1. If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.
  2. If a child needs specialist support, is vulnerable or has a parent who is a critical worker, then educational provision will be available for them.
  3. Parents should not rely for childcare upon those who are advised to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions.
  4. Parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults.
  5. Residential special schools, boarding schools and special settings continue to care for children wherever possible.

Our school remains open to pupils of Watling Lower School who:

  • have a parent who is classified as a key worker according to the government's guidance (see below)
  • have a parent who works for the Local Authority
  • have a social worker assigned to the family
  • are a 'Looked After Child'
  • have an Educational Health Care Plan

If you feel that your child is eligible, please contact the school to discuss your requirements. We are happy to accept the children who meet the criteria above, but in reference to the key principles above, children should not be attending school when safe, alternative arrangements are possible.
